Dublin Dockyard War Munitions Factory
11th November 2018 marks the 100th anniversary of the end of WW1. During the war the Dublin Dockyard War Munitions Factory was established to make 18pdr shells and hired local Dublin women in the area to work in the factory. The factory was based where Dublin Port Company’s Port Centre stands today. During the war 35,000 Irish soldiers died fighting in the British Army and over 200,000 served.
