The Gallipoli Campaign of 1915 was a tragic and ill-fated attempt during World War I, driven by Winston Churchill’s plan to knock Turkey out of the war. Intended to open a new front and relieve pressure on the Western Front, the campaign quickly devolved into a disaster. Brave soldiers from Australia, New Zealand, and Britain were sent to their deaths in a series of poorly executed landings and relentless battles. The campaign ended in defeat, with massive casualties and no strategic gains, marking one of Churchill’s greatest failures in military leadership.
