William Wallace was a Scottish knight and freedom fighter who led the resistance against English rule during the late 13th century. He played a key role in the Wars of Scottish Independence, famously defeating the English at the Battle of Stirling Bridge in 1297. Despite his victories, he was eventually captured by the English in 1305, brutally executed, and remembered as a martyr for Scotland’s freedom. Wallace’s legacy endures as a symbol of resistance and national pride, inspiring countless stories, including the film Braveheart.
