In the dying days of the Second World War in Europe, Hitler was cooped up in his Fuhrerbunker in Berlin as the Russians/Soviet Army surrounded the German capital. What had happened to his many different residences and offices across Germany though?
Well possibly Hitler’s most famous house or Nazi Headquarters outside of Berlin has to be his mountain retreat in Bavaria known as the Berghof. Situated in Obersalzburg, near to the village of Berchtesgaden, this mountain retreat would become infamous throughout the Second World War as a sign of the Nazi Party’s leadership. However, as Hitler was in Berlin, the allies and particularly the RAF felt the need to strike Hitler where it hurt him, to eliminate any possible threat that the war would continue from a Nazi Arctic Fortress.
