Taliban’s attempts to capture the Panjshir valley continue. Resistance fighters were seen manning turret guns and patrolling with artillery-armed humvees. Amrullah Saleh, one of the leaders of the Resistance, claimed that the Taliban had blocked food and fuel supply to nearby Andarab valley, and fighters of the extremist group were using children and the elderly as human shields. The other leader of the Resistance is Ahmad Massoud, the son of Ahmad Shah Massoud, under whose leadership Panjshir had defied the Soviets in the 1980s and repelled the Taliban in the 1990s.
