The Battle of Stalingrad
The turning point of World War II was the brutal battle of Stalingrad, which began in the summer of 1942 and lasted through the spring of 1943. As the Axis forces pushed their way through Russia, the Red Army retreated and regrouped, cutting off and encircling the mighty German 6th Army, to finally decimate it along with Romanian, Hungarian and Italian forces.
