Fourknocks megalithic passage-tomb in County Meath
A short video showing the Fourknocks megalithic passage-tomb in County Meath from the air, shot by Anthony Murphy of Mythical Ireland. Fourknocks is a small passage-tomb about 20m in diameter, one of a cluster of small prehistoric mounds along the Fourknocks ridge in the southeast of County Meath near its border with County Dublin. Fourknocks I (the principal subject of the video) was excavated in 1950 by P.J. Harnett. The nearby Fourknocks II mound was excavated in 1952. Fourknocks I has the largest chamber floor area of any excavated Irish passage-tomb. At 42 square metres, it is around three times larger than the floor area of the Newgrange chamber.
