In January 2012 Italian divers discovered the wreck of a massive Second World War plane off the coast of Sardinia. At a depth of 65 meters (213 feet) lies a Messerschmidt “Gigant”, the biggest aircraft in World War Two. The ‘gigant’ was a secret transport plane designed by Hitler as a glider to land in England and was manufactured without engines. It had to be towed by other aircraft to take off, and was difficult to maneuver.
